  • A Picture A Day: August 17th

There is this big bush in the backyard that has never flowered, that anybody can remember. Well this year it not only flowered, but on one side there are two different colors of blossoms. We are quite confused by it. lol

I thought the colors came out nicely. No editing done, original pic! =)

Check out C_l_o_g and Shining_Garnet for daily pic too.

  • Wow that's a beautiful bush!  I wonder what it is? Do you know? As to the two colors, there are two different explainations I can think of: either it was partially cross pollenated with something else (doesn't have to be the same species, I've seen it done) OR there is a different acidity of soil on one side of the bush than on the other.  Maybe coffee grounds in the soil on just one side perhaps?  Hydrangeas (however you spell that) are a flower that blooms pink, purple, or blue based on the acidity of the soil its roots draw water from.

  • That's a great picture, I think that's a sign for beautiful things happening in your life that never happened before))))

  • I think if I had a confused plant like you do I would be confused too. lol  It is a lovely plant!

  • take some leaves and the flowers to a local plant center and see if they can id for you.  that is really and intense photo of the flowers.

  • @Shining_Garnet - Thank you! =)
@Ampbreia - Thanks! I will have to ask as I do not know what it is. =) Thanks for the tips as to why it is different colors, I will tell my parents and see if one of those could be a reason!
@greeenleaf - You are sweet, thank you. =)
@C_L_O_G - Haha yes it is quite funny! At first I thought it was two different plants but a closer inspection proved me wrong. hehe =)
